Who wants stiff head shots when you can have free spirited portraits in the great outdoors!?
I met with Melissa Loren from Harper & Colette on a stormy evening to take her head shots. She wanted her portraits to be bold and wild, because she wants the same traits in her clients. We started out by a lake with a very bold outfit, an orange bodysuit and lace dress. Melissa also uses florals in most of her portraits so we made sure to include a bouquet during her session. I absolutely love the colors she picked and would describe the first look as very BOLD!
For her second look she brought a handmade dress by Sew Wildflowers for the wild, boho look. I took her to a field of yellow wildflowers and asked her to run, spin, and whip her hair around. At one point I think I asked her to do 5 things at once, but she did all of it perfectly. The storm coming in that evening was the cherry on the top. It added that extra wild element to her portraits.
When a business owner asks me to do their head shots I always make sure to discuss what they’re wanting to convey to their clients. Your head shots should show YOU and your business. Lets stop with the stiff, studio head shots and start creating magic!
